MPSL were appointed under the ICN Framework to provide Architectural Services (Stage 1 & 2) for the construction of 46 affordable homes for the Great Places Housing Group.  We worked alongside Casey Group, the appointed contractor to ensure a commercially viable scheme was designed taken seamlessly to construction stage.

The Design

Materials take reference from the local vernacular, ensuing that the site fitted within its setting. As such, properties were designed to feature red multi facing bricks and grey roof tiles.  Architectural details include a contrasting brick band course and window heads, artstone window cills, flat door canopies, white PVC window frames, fascias, and barge boards, and black rainwater goods and meter boxes.

A range of house types across the site created a variety and interest within the streetscapes

Social Value

As part of our commitment to delivering meaningful social value
through the Innovation Chain North (ICN) framework, MPSL
supported improvements at the Wildbrook Community
Allotments in collaboration with Great Places and Local Food
First.
Following initial discussions with Great Places, our team met
with Dave Hanlon of Local Food First to review the site and
understand their requirements. An existing building on site was
in a poor condition and unfit for use, however funding had been
secured to enable refurbishment works.

To support the project, MPSL undertook a digital measured
building survey at our own cost, allowing us to produce an
accurate set of existing and proposed drawings. These included
refurbishment proposals and an internal layout designed to
provide the facilities and functional space needed for ongoing
community use.
The drawings enabled the client team to programme the works
effectively and obtain budget costs from contractors, helping
move the project towards delivery.
This work was delivered pro bono by MPSL in line with the
social value commitments linked to the Vaughan Street
development, reinforcing our approach to supporting
communities alongside project delivery.
