Paul Butler Associates Limited

Founded in 1992, Paul Butler Associates Ltd is an independent planning, development and heritage consultancy that provides specialist advice for private, public and housing association clients. We undertake planning, development and heritage work throughout the UK and provide advice on all aspects of the planning system. The practice was established to provide professional, independent, cost effective and imaginative advice to our clients, and this remains our motivation today. The practice has grown steadily since its foundation and we now have a committed and experienced team of qualified professionals who understand the interests and aspirations of developers and social housing providers, the responsibilities of local authorities and the roles of statutory and other consultees. We advise on all aspects of the statutory planning system, including development control, planning applications, negotiations, planning appeals, inquiries and enforcement matters. Every year the practice successfully secures permission for a wide range of residential development proposals including strategic regeneration initiatives and infill housing sites with planning permission secured on brownfield sites (former pub sites and redundant commercial land), greenfield land and for the conversion of existing buildings.

If a public consultation exercise is advisable or essential, this can be arranged and undertaken in house by our experienced team. We have a particular expertise in bringing forward proposals for sites with heritage constraints (including sites in/or adjacent to conservation areas or with listed buildings) and redundant open spaces such as former bowling greens, disused sports pitches and other surplus public land. Other specialisms include undertaking site and building feasibility studies thereby ensuring clients are aware of the potential planning constraints associated with a site at the outset allowing mitigation measures to be put in place. We have longstanding working relationships with the majority of local planning authorities across the region and understand how each functions thereby giving your project an advantage from the time you ask us to assist your team secure permission.
